Charles Hicks was born and raised in Washington, D.C. His love of the entertainment industry started early. He appeared
in numerous school plays and had the opportunity to live out every kids dream back in the late 1960s-to be in the audience
with other children on Dee Cees "The Ronald Show," starring Willard Scott as Ronald McDonald.
Mr. Hicks did some runway modeling for the local John Casablancas Modeling School. During the same period, he had
some gigs at Black Entertainment Television (BET). He appeared in a Kashief video as part of an audience. He also starred
in a year-long promotion piece for BET. This spot led to other opportunities including his appearance on a game show as a
model and another promotional piece commemorating the Thanksgiving Holiday. Charlie got the acting bug and through Dee Cees
Central Casting, won a spot on an episode of the television show "Hawk" which starred Avery
Brooks.
In 1977, Charlies interests expanded. One of his best friends was at Oklahoma State University where a group
of guys got together and made tapes that were played over the school radio station and distributed around the campus. One
of his best friends brought a tape back to Dee Cee and a new experience began. Charlie and his friend started making tapes,
and sharing the material with their friends. Today, they have well over 1,000 fans. The material includes skits, game shows
and celebrity interviews with Charlie portraying Snoop Dog, Miles Davis, Elmer Fudd, and his own characters, Hard 'N Long,
Hee Himm and others. You can listen to these on-air antics at KOTX on the Internet at Shoutcast.com.
Mr. Hicks also has over 11 years of experience in the communications industry. For seven years, he worked at MCI
Telecommunications, Inc. as a Quality Specialist. He provided management techniques to coach and develop professionals at
all levels in quality customer service for small businesses. He also worked for four years at Verizon as a Residential Sales
and Service Consultant. He assisted individuals and businesses with identifying and choosing telephone systems to meet their
service needs.
In 2004, Charlie joined Billy Dees Timeless Classics as a co-host of the show. He continues to portray his
characters including sports announcer Marlon Fishback for radio audiences on the syndicated show.
