Billy Dee's long, lustrous radio career began as a boyhood dream. When Billy Dee reached the age
of nine, his father gave him a tape recorder as a gift. Billy Dee’s love of music and his talent for radio production
and broadcasting grew as he developed his unique deejay style.
At the age of eleven, Billy Dee submitted his entry to the National Junior Deejay Contest. After
winning the contest, Billy Dee received the recognition of his then-mentor, Bob (“Night Hawk”) Terry (a.k.a.
Bobby Joe Horne) of WOL radio in Washington, D.C. "Night Hawk" recognized Billy Dee’s boy-wonder talents and regularly
featured him on his top-rated radio show on Saturdays bestowing upon him his first official deejay name of "Dynamo.”
After his work at WOL, Billy Dee moved to WOOK (OK100) in Washington, D.C. and then on to WENZ
in Richmond, Virginia. Billy Dee programmed 5 major radio stations including WVEE (V-103) in Atlanta, Georgia and WWDM
(the Big DM) in South Carolina. Billy Dee is known as “the voice” of many radio stations (WOIC- AM/FM,
KISS-FM, WYNN-FM, The Slammer and HOT 106.3 FM, and many more).
On radio, “Billy Dee’s Timeless Classics,” is syndicated in 58 markets across
the country. This show features America’s best classic songs of 50 years. Billy also hosts “Billy
Dee's Timeless Classics TV Show” featuring timeless, classic oldies artists and today’s performers of Pop, Hip
Hop and R&B for music lovers of all ages and demographics. Billy Dee’s newest venture, is “Higher
Ground,” a popular, syndicated Gospel radio and television program.
An astute business man and entrepreneur, Billy Dee launched Segway Media, a radio advertising/production
company in 1984, based in Hyattsville, Maryland, with a client base of companies networked all over the United States. In
2004, Billy Dee launched Radio Music Productions, a radio and television production company based in Beltsville, Maryland.
Billy Dee holds a B.A. degree in Journalism from the University of the District of Columbia and
a B.S. degree in Business from Howard University. Billy Dee has received numerous industry awards. He has a certificate
of Prophecy from the Career Academy of Broadcasting and a Certificate of Prophecy in Radio and Television Broadcasting from
Georgetown University.
Billy Dee's voice is one of the most recognized talents in radio today. As a consultant to
major market radio stations around the country, Billy Dee has coached and trained many of today's hottest on-air radio and
television personalities.
Billy Dee received Program Director and Production Director of the Year awards
from the National Assocation of Broadcasters in 1986, 1987, 1993, and 1995. In 1993, Billy Dee also received the prestigious
Best New Air Personality award from the National Association of Black Broadcasters.
